One of the initial things that piqued my interest in Gallup’s strengths assessment was how helpful it could be for growing relationships. Their resources emphasize how strengths play out in relationships as well as how we grow our strengths in the context of relationships. Because of this I sought certification as a Gallup strengths coach.
REFUGE. A safe place you run to for protection, comfort, to escape trouble.
What is your refuge?
We each have our go-to’s. A friend, work, media, our home, a role or position (whether as a mom, ministry, or work related), exercise, coffee, … sugar! While these are good gifts to enjoy, they all fail us. God is our only reliable refuge.
No matter what age our kids are, it doesn’t take long for them to ask questions that arise from the culture around us! We cannot hide them from the devastating effects of sin and brokenness.
So today, I invite you peek in on conversations I’ve had with our girls. Our challenge is to be the the kind of Christ-followers who love and interact with people who are different from us (Jesus did this!) while having discerning hearts that honor God. Truth and love are hard to live out!
