Circles of Responsibility

There are times in life when we need to consider all there is to do, be thoughtful about priorities, and be open to making adjustments.

This is one of those times for me!  We are in the process of moving to Oregon, back to a town that is right between the places where my husband and I grew up.  It has been exciting, but brings a lot of extra work and interrupts our normal rhythms of life.  (This is something that is hard for my Strengths Theme of Discipline, I might add!)

Practicing Slowing with Day Outings

The parking lot was brimming to overfull, only a few hundred feet from where the girls and I were playing in the Virgin River at Zion National Park. But from the place we were, all you could hear was the babbling of the river.

You’d never guess we were close to so many cars and people. We had paused and set up “day camp” by the river where we could arrive, enjoy, and soak it all in.

Pause the Static and Noise

Imagine this little experience with me a moment…

I went to the top of the stairs yesterday and called out, “Ellie, do you remember what you needed to do this morning?”

“What?” came the reply.

I repeated the instructions.  Pause.  There was this staticky radio noise coming from her room, which I recognized as coming from her Our Generation mini doll car.  IMG_20170820_093223696 Continue reading “Pause the Static and Noise”
