Fellow Sheep {Home, Part 6}

{Home is the starting place for lived-out-love, a place where the needs of the whole person are cared for.  This post explores spiritual care.}

Jesus is our Shepherd, and we are his sheep.  Thinking of our relationships this way sets the tone for spiritual care and relationships within our home.  Seeing ourselves as “fellow sheep” would be helpful for any people living together under the same roof!  Knowing Jesus as the Shepherd puts our relationships into perspective.  When we have a growing relationship with Jesus and trust him to work in others’ lives, it is humbling, hope-giving, and freeing for our relationships with one another.

Advent Devotions & Ornaments

There are many things that vie for our attention during the Christmas season!  Each year, we like to create space for our family to remember who we are really celebrating.  This year, we’re going to use these devotions I wrote a few years ago.  I pray they encourage your hearts to draw near to Jesus this season!

Bible verse cards, a printable for you!

For years, I’ve jotted down Bible verses and put them in places where I would see them.  As a teen I had them on my bedroom mirror.  And then I put index cards on my car dash to read and memorize as I drove forty-five minutes to community college (OK, maybe this wasn’t advisable!).  This verse happens to be tucked by our garage door right now.IMG_20170913_142722346 Continue reading “Bible verse cards, a printable for you!”

Ideas for connecting with Jesus throughout your day

Last week, in Pause the Static and the Noise, I shared a funny parenting story, with the encouragement that we need to be still and quiet with God so we can hear His voice.  This week, I want to follow up and brainstorm together how we can practically open ourselves to hear His voice throughout our days.

Life is full of changes in seasons.  Creating space and time to connect with Jesus can be more challenging in some seasons than others.  And when we experience change, it often upsets the rhythms and habits that we have grown accustomed to!IMG_20170823_062252344 Continue reading “Ideas for connecting with Jesus throughout your day”

Three ideas for reading the Bible relationally

Last week, I wrote about Reading Scripture Relationally.  God has given us the Bible so we might connect with Him in authentic relationship!  As we read scripture relationally, we know God for who He is and open ourselves up to be known by Him.  This creates space in our lives where we can bring our real selves to meet with God where real growth, healing, and change can take place.

How can we read the Bible relationally?
