Put On Love

While one scarf can be pretty and warm, we aren’t meant to wrap ourselves in a bunch of them! If we try this, we’ll find that it quickly becomes difficult to keep them on, much less move in them.

In my last post, we talked about how we tend to wrap ourselves in relationships, abilities, position, and possessions to know who we are and be known by other people.

Step out into community!

For any moms of young children, I encourage you to get involved in a moms’ group this fall!  It was one of the best things I did when my girls were little.  This post is for you.  Even if we don’t have young children, we still need community!  We all have times when it takes courage to step out.

I was nervous the first time I visited the mom’s group at our church with my baby girl.  I was tired and anxious, still new to the rhythms of motherhood.  It was hard getting out the door and to something on time!

It took effort and courage, but Ellie and I made it there.  Afterwards, I was so glad I went!  We kept going back, and this group became community for both me and my girls in the next few years.

Bravely step out into community, like these ducks that surprised us at the park!

It’s so easy for us women to hold back and not join community.  This is true not only when our children are small, but all through life! Continue reading “Step out into community!”

Homeless Care Package {Love is Humble}

I’ll never forget Maria.  I pulled into the Wal-Mart parking lot on my usual errands.  A family standing with a sign at the back of the parking lot caught my eye.  The man held a cardboard sign, with his wife and two little girls.  My heart started beating faster and I knew I needed to go talk with them. 20170625_162534 Continue reading “Homeless Care Package {Love is Humble}”

Love = See + Compassion + Action

Yesterday, I was at Target and I took a short-cut through the women’s pajama section.  I casually overheard a nice looking senior gentleman ask an associate if this was all of the women’s pajamas. I didn’t think much of the question, but her response caught my attention.  He asked a simple question, and she responded, “Yes, this is it…you’re on your own.”  He obviously was out of place in this area of the store!IMG_20180319_094725260
