Learning and Growing Together {Home, Part 7}

This is the final post in a series of posts on how home is the starting place for lived-out-love – a place where the needs of the whole person are cared for.  This week we’ll consider how we care for each others’ need to learn and grow as individuals, which includes encouraging and celebrating each other!  Over a series of six posts, we’ve explored the physical, emotional, relational, and spiritual aspects of home. We also considered how we extend love to others beyond our home.  Home looks different throughout the seasons of life; yet we all need these aspects of home and can build them in intentional and creative ways!  I began this series with this verse:

“The wisest of women builds her house …”  ~Proverbs 14:1

Meeting our basic needs with care {Home, Part 2}

{Home is the starting place for lived-out-love, a place where the needs of the whole person are cared for.  This post explores physical needs.}

When I was a child, my favorite book from the library was The Maggie B., by Irene Hass.  It’s a delightful story about a girl who wished she had her own ship.  One night, in her dreams, her wish comes true in a lovely adventure with her little brother.

The Wise Woman Builds Her Home {Home, Part 1}

{NOTE:  This is the introduction to a series on “Home.”  Check out these links to see other posts in this series, as we care for the whole person in our homes: physical, emotional, relational, spiritual, and personal growth.}

A couple years ago, we literally watched our home be built.  We’d just moved to southern Utah in the beginning of June, and we made many visits on hot summer days while we lived in a rental on the other side of town.  It was a constantly changing development.  Concrete foundation was laid, framing formed the skeleton of the house, a maze of electrical and plumbing was added, then a protective roof, and finally sheetrock created defined rooms.  By fits and spurts our house took shape.
