Love = See + Compassion + Action

Yesterday, I was at Target and I took a short-cut through the women’s pajama section.  I casually overheard a nice looking senior gentleman ask an associate if this was all of the women’s pajamas. I didn’t think much of the question, but her response caught my attention.  He asked a simple question, and she responded, “Yes, this is it…you’re on your own.”  He obviously was out of place in this area of the store!IMG_20180319_094725260

Neighboring

With spring coming, it’s a terrific time of year to connect with neighbors!  As it warms up, we’re all outside more.  It’s a good time for meeting new neighbors and reconnecting  with those we haven’t seen in a while.  It’s so easy to come and go and never meet our neighbors, as we drive into our garage and close its door.  Even if no one else is doing it, we can be the ones who take the first step to build relationships in our neighborhoods!

Love Asks Questions

Each time I saw this friend, she would ask a question about something I had mentioned the last time we talked.  The question might be about something I was planning to do or something that was on my heart.  This told me she had really been listening to me.  Her question made me feel like I was loved and paid attention to!  She inspired me to try to ask questions more with others I knew.

Asking questions is a skill for loving well!   It accomplishes at least four things:

Live artfully!

I’m sharing something special with you this week!  My daughter, Ellie, wrote this in her sketch pad:

“Art is meant to be shared.  People enjoy art, and they love to look at it.  So make art.  It doesn’t matter if it’s drawing, painting, sculpting, or even taking photos.  It’s art.  It doesn’t even matter if you’re good at drawing or not, it’s art!  Even if you don’t like art, things like dance, music, singing, and drama are art.  It’s just the art of people.  So get out there and make art!”

Learning and Growing Together {Home, Part 7}

{Home is the starting place for lived-out-love, a place where the needs of the whole person are cared for.  This post explores encouraging personal growth.}

This is the final post in this series! This week we’ll consider how we care for each others’ need to learn and grow as individuals, which includes encouraging and celebrating each other!

Throughout this series of posts, we’ve explored the physical, emotional, relational, and spiritual aspects of home. We also considered how we extend love to others beyond our home.  Home looks different throughout the seasons of life; yet we all need these aspects of home and can build them in intentional and creative ways!  I began this series with this verse:

“The wisest of women builds her house …”  ~Proverbs 14:1
