Live and Love Out of Your Strengths

Our strengths are what we can most naturally live and love well out of.  We each have different talents that help us live well.  There are many ways we can love the people in our lives well.  When we know our natural style for living and loving, we can be intentional and more effective in our own unique way.

Everyday Thankfulness

Recently I did a marathon of errands. I usually have a list of errands to do in a trip, so I can be more efficient. As I drove down the road and stopped into Target, a variety of thankfulnesses came to mind: “Thank You for the errands I can get done.  Thank You I can walk. Thank You for money to buy groceries. Thank You for clean water.” These are all little, everyday things in my life. But they would not be so little if I didn’t have them! With this burst of thankfulness came a burst of energy. My day is full of good gifts! IMG_20171212_101610755_HDR (2)

Grieving

Sometimes, grief catches us by surprise.  It’s been over twelve years now since my father passed away.  Recently I stopped by a media business to have my wedding VHS recording transferred to DVD.  Not only did my father give me away in marriage, he also made the wedding video for us.  He thoroughly enjoyed technology and worked on video projects.  As I entered the business it reminded me of my dad, and the urge to weep came over me.  Early on, this was a common part of the grieving process.  Over time it became less strong and less often, and I could speak of my dad with peace.  But once in a while it still catches me by surprise!
