Prayer is Dependence

God is the Source of all good things!  All things are from Him, through Him, and to Him (Rom 11:36).  And prayer is how we stay connected to Him throughout our days.  He is the One who causes the tree to bear fruit or turn colors; the tree does not try hard to do this.  Similarly, when we stay close to God in dependence, He accomplishes things in our lives.IMG_20171113_140724989 Continue reading “Prayer is Dependence”

Trying vs. Trust

Happy Thanksgiving week, friends!  Trusting God opens my eyes to see all the gifts He gives us.  I pray the words in this post move you one step closer to trust and gratitude.  These thoughts come right out of my journals, from my heart to yours!

Writing these posts has been a gift from God these past months.  Ideas and words come to me, and I write them down before I lose them.  An analogy comes to me, maybe as I weed or notice the grass growing out-of-control.  This has been a joy for me!  And then it’s my responsibility to respond, with the attention and work to put it into words.  This joy has been somewhat of a surprise to me!  IMG_20170915_102216535 (2)

Advent Devotions & Ornaments

There are many things that vie for our attention during the Christmas season!  Each year, we like to create space for our family to remember who we are really celebrating.  This year, we’re going to use these devotions I wrote a few years ago.  I pray they encourage your hearts to draw near to Jesus this season!

Sunlight & Clouds

I have been noticing the clouds, and how they reflect the light of the sun.  We use sunny days and blue skies as an analogy for happiness.  But, it is when the sunlight catches the clouds that we can actually see the play of its brightness.  It is clouds that make for gorgeous sunrises and sunsets.  Yet, cloudy days are an analogy for sadness.IMG_20170908_080232336

Bible verse cards, a printable for you!

For years, I’ve jotted down Bible verses and put them in places where I would see them.  As a teen I had them on my bedroom mirror.  And then I put index cards on my car dash to read and memorize as I drove forty-five minutes to community college (OK, maybe this wasn’t advisable!).  This verse happens to be tucked by our garage door right now.IMG_20170913_142722346 Continue reading “Bible verse cards, a printable for you!”
